I am incredibly grateful to all the lovely families who have allowed me to come in to thier lives and photograph thier babies over the years.
If you have looked back at my other blog articles, you may have noticed that my photography journey has taken me in a different direction to the one I was on 5 years ago. Back then I was photographing women and helping to make them feel beautiful and love themselves. Then a midwifery client asked me to take her newborn photos (that's another story). So here I am now photographing newborns.
Is there anything about newborn photography, my journey or anything else you would like to know? Drop me a line at [email protected] or head over to facebook and leave a comment.
This is a painting of my great, great, great, great grandmother. She is commonly known in the family as Great, Great.
She has been hanging above my mother’s fireplace for years and was joined a few years by the paintings of one of her sons and his wife.
We know her story, we have her image, and that of one of her children.
I have lost 2 brothers. The first one, Jeff when he was 15. We have very few photographs of him. The second, Jon, only a few years ago. Losing my brothers made me want to have as many photographs of family members as I possibly could, so when I got my first camera, I took hundreds of family photographs. Do you know where all of those precious memories are? On my hard drive! We have a couple of small printed images, but nothing as beautiful as the painting of Great Great.
So I have made it my mission to create memories, beautiful, timeless pieces of art, to display and treasure.
Great , Great is just canvas and oil paint. The value of her painting is not in the canvas or the paint, it is in the image. The time the artist put into capturing her beauty, her essence, her soul for future generations to treasure.
When did you last have a professional portrait taken? Do you have any beautiful images to display on your walls. Having your portrait taken and turned into a beautiful piece of art, is not just a gift for yourself, it is a gift to those who love you. A gift for future generations.

Photographer Sue Bryce started her #existinphotos campaign, to encourage people, women in particular, to have their photographs taken. If you died tomorrow, would there be any really good photos for your family to treasure? I know I am guilty of avoiding the camera (I hide behind one!), because I am too old, or my hair isn't right, or I just need to loose a couple of pound, or....or....or......and so it goes on.
So for the sake of your loved ones, book a slot with a portrait photographer. Don't wait until later, sometimes later is too late.
